If you want some great advice on naming project files and keeping stuff organized, then Ivan Todorov is the man to see. Check out his article on Guidelines for Project Directory Structure and Naming Conventions.
Whether you are a freelancer or part of a large company, your organizational skills and naming conventions can make a big difference in how you are perceived by your clients. Do you name files in a consistent and predictable manner? How much time have you lost updating the wrong (or outdated) file, and how often do people come up to you (breaking your concentration), asking “which is the latest file?†Wouldn’t it be nice to have a system in place that if followed would eliminate distractions and reduce errors?
A really great read, and he has downloads of his project file naming conventions.
